When we started OneNote we set out to revolutionize the way people capture, annotate, and recall all the ideas, thoughts, snippets and plans in their life. As many of you have attested, OneNote is the ultimate extension for your brain, but it’s not complete if it’s not instantly available everywhere. We’ve already made a lot of progress in that direction with our mobile, tablet and online web experiences. But there was still a gap. People frequently asked us for OneNote on Mac, and for more ways to capture content.
Today we’re excited to complete that story with three major developments:

Oct 09, 2017 However, Microsoft finally released OneNote for Mac on March 17th 2014 (although OneNote for iPad and iPhone were already available for some time before the Mac version). But many users find the limited functionality and especially the inability to work with local files in the new official OneNote for Mac very frustrating. In line with a report from last week, Microsoft today launched OneNote for the Mac, making several significant changes to the service for both mobile and desktop users. The biggest change is in pricing with OneNote now free across all supported platforms for personal use. The free Mac app also.
- OneNote for Mac is available for the first time and for free. With this, OneNote is now available on all the platforms you care about: PC, Mac, Windows tablets, Windows Phone, iPad, iPhone, Android and the Web. And they’re always in sync.
- OneNote is now freeeverywhere including the Windows PC desktop and Mac version because we want everyone to be able to use it. Premium features are available to paid customers.
- The OneNote service now provides a cloud API enabling any application to connect to it. This makes it easier than ever to capture ideas, information and inspirations from more applications and more places straight into OneNote, including:
- OneNote Clipper for saving web pages to OneNote
- me@onenote.com for emailing notes to OneNote
- Office Lens for capturing documents and whiteboards with your Windows Phone
- Sending blog and news articles to OneNote from Feedly, News360 and Weave
- Easy document scanning to OneNote with Brother, Doxie Go, Epson, and Neat
- Writing notes with pen and paper and sending them to OneNote with Livescribe
- Mobile document scanning to OneNote with Genius Scan and JotNot
- Having your physical notebooks scanned into OneNote with Mod Notebooks
- Connecting your world to OneNote with IFTTT

Question: Why do I write my handwriting in OneNote, and I find that the Ink to Text feature in the Draw tab is grayed out? Unable to click. Answer: The Ink to Text in Draw tab is use to convert handwriting to text. Oct 18, 2009 Office 2016 for Mac is available for Office 365 and Volume Licensing customers. The new versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote provide the best of both worlds for Mac users: the familiar Office experience paired with the best of Mac. The reason it's greyed out is because the server you dropped from the farm was the one.
- Oct 23, 2015 Of all my notebooks, the one I need to share access to is the only one with the 'Share Notebook' option grayed out. Both are basic accounts using Windows 7. The only difference between the grayed out folder and the rest that I can share is it is the largest with over 50 notes.
- Oct 18, 2009 Office 2016 for Mac is available for Office 365 and Volume Licensing customers. Please direct all questions and discussions about Microsoft OneNote 2010 Beta going forward to the Microsoft Office 2010. I have a user that is using Outlook/Exchange 2010 on a Windows 7 box and his Share Calendar option is greyed out. All other users are.
- I have been using Onenote (on my mac) for just under a year now and have had up to 4 full university papers worth of lecture notes (including slides) uploaded to my Onenote. I now only have 3 papers (which are only half completed) on my one drive and syncing has stopped because it says I am out.

By making it easy to send anything from any application to OneNote, it’s one more step towards becoming your digital memory. We’ve built some new experiences for this and we’ve worked with a bunch of partners to integrate it with their applications as well.

OneNote, an organizational platform in Microsoft's Office Suite, offers an elegant solution to organizing your personal and professional notes.
The program's default setting on PCs and Macs is to save your work as you type automatically, and it's one powerful way OneNote helps keep your life in order. If, however, your OneNote application is no longer saving as you go, you can re-enable the program's automatic sync function to ensure things are continuously saved.
It's important to note that you can't enable or disable the auto-sync feature on OneNote for Macs, unlike PCs. So if you're using the note-taking app on a Mac, trust that your work will always autosave.
Here's how PC users can enable auto-saving in a few easy steps.
